Feedback in the app's sidebar is where your team reads what users posted and decides what happens to it. Anyone on your team can triage. The number beside Feedback in the sidebar is how many posts are Open and waiting for you.

Tabs and counts

Feedback opens on Needs triage: posts that are Open, which nobody has looked at yet. The tabs above the list sort posts by status, each with how many it holds:

  • Needs triage (Open), Under review, Planned, In progress and Done (Completed).

  • All: every status, including Closed.

  • Possible duplicates: posts that may repeat an older one, in any status. See Merge duplicate posts.

The counts follow your search and filters, so they match what you'd see on each tab. Merged posts aren't counted or listed.

Search, filter and sort

  • Search titles and descriptions, at the top of the page: finds posts with every word you type, in the title or the description. It searches the tab you're on; switch to All to search every status.

  • Board: one board, or All boards.

  • Voters: Everyone, or Voted by a reader group: the posts someone in that group voted for. It's there when your project has reader groups, which are on the Business plan (see Reader groups).

  • Sort: Most votes (the default), Newest, or Trending: the most votes in the last 7 days first, then the most votes overall.

Tabs, search and filters work together, and switching tab keeps the rest. The list shows 50 posts at a time; Load more shows the next 50.

Each row shows the votes, the title, the post's number, board and author, and how many comments it has. A Possible duplicate badge marks a post that may repeat another. Posts from Add sample content on Home have a Sample badge.

Who's asking

When your project totals a number property of your users, such as their MRR, each row also shows the total over the post's voters, such as $13,370 MRR. Each person counts once. Only your team sees these totals. To choose the property, see Name and format your users' properties.

Triage a post beside the list

Click a post's title, or press J, to open it in a pane beside the list. Its row stays marked, and the page's address includes the post's number, so you can share a link to it.

Feedback with Needs triage selected and a post open in the pane: its Status, Board, Owner and ETA, and its voters

The pane shows the post's number and board, its title, author, age, votes and description. Below that:

  • Status, Board, Owner and ETA. Each change saves as soon as you pick it.

  • Voters: up to 10, each with their company and Who's asking value, the biggest first, then and N more.

  • Reply: a reply as the team, an internal note, or a reply emailed to the voters. See Reply to a post and plan it.

For the post's activity, possible duplicates, links and merging, choose Open full page.

Move through the list from the keyboard:

  • J: the next post (the first one, if none is open).

  • K: the previous post.

  • Esc: close the pane.

The keys don't work while you're typing, or while a dialog, menu or list of choices is open. If a change moves the open post off the tab, such as a new status, J and K carry on from where it was.

On a phone, the post takes the list's place. The arrow at the top goes back to the list.

Change a post's status from the list

Each row has a status control at its right. On All and Possible duplicates it's the status badge; on the other tabs, where every row has the same status, it's a small button. Pick the new status.

Choosing Completed first asks you to confirm, and says how many people it emails. See Statuses and your roadmap.

Change several posts at once

Tick the box at the start of each row. A bar replaces the filters, with how many you picked:

The bar with 3 selected: Set status, Move to board, Merge… and Clear
  • Set status: gives them all one status. Completed asks first: Mark N posts as Completed?, with how many people it emails, then Mark Completed.

  • Move to board: moves them all to one board.

  • Merge…: merges them into one of them, when you picked two or more. See Merge duplicate posts.

  • Clear: unticks them all.

Each post is changed the same way as on its own. If one can't be, a message names it and why, and the others are still changed.

Your picks belong to the list you made them on: switching tab, filter, sort or search clears them.

Add a post yourself

New post at the top of Feedback opens your portal's first board in a new tab. Post there, for example for an idea a customer gave you on a call. To record who asked for it, add an internal note to the post.
