Your portal and docs can live under a path of your own website, like yourcompany.com/help. Pages are then at yourcompany.com/help/docs, yourcompany.com/help/feedback and so on. Your site keeps everything else, and Tuti only answers under that path. A sub-folder is on the Business plan. Owners and admins set it up in Settings → Domain.

1. Set it up

  1. Open Settings → Domain and choose Sub-folder.

  2. Enter Your site, like https://yourcompany.com. It must be an https:// address.

  3. Enter the Path, like /help or /support.

  4. Choose Set up sub-folder.

The path can use lowercase letters, digits and dashes, and can have more than one part, like /support/help. It can't start with one of the portal's own pages, such as /docs, /feedback, /roadmap, /changelog or /sign-in. To use a whole domain instead, see Put your portal on your own domain.

Until the setup is checked, your portal stays at its Tuti address, and the setup shows Waiting for your site.

2. Forward two paths to Tuti

Tuti shows two rules, each with a From and a To and a Copy button:

  • Your path and everything under it, like /help/*, to the same path on your portal's Tuti address.

  • /_tuti/*: your portal's scripts, styles and fonts. They have a path of their own, so they can't clash with your site's.

Your site forwards both to your portal's Tuti address with the path kept as it is. Forward them the way a proxy does, as a rewrite, not a redirect, with the Host header set to your Tuti address. Your visitors' browsers only ever see your site.

Rules for your platform

Under To set it up, pick the platform your site runs on, choose Cloudflare, Vercel, Next.js, Netlify or Nginx. A panel opens with the rules written out for your path and address, ready to paste, with a Copy button. For anything else, My platform isn't listed opens the full guide. The same two rules apply on any platform.

3. Check it

Choose Check setup. Tuti asks your site for a check address under each of the two paths and expects your portal to answer.

  • If one doesn't answer, Tuti names the rule to fix: "Make sure your site forwards … to …, path and all".

  • If your site can't be reached, it must be a public https:// address. Try again in a minute.

Once both work, Tuti says "Your portal is at …" and the setup shows Verified. Keep both rules on your site for as long as you use the sub-folder.

What changes when it's live

  • Your portal answers under the path on your site. People who open your Tuti address are sent on to it.

  • Emails, the sitemap and links from the API use your site's address.

  • People sign in on your site, under the path. Their sign-in is a cookie on your site, which only signs them in to your portal. Single sign-on works there too.

  • The widget keeps working as it is. You don't need to change its script tag.

  • HTML you add in Customize → Custom code runs on your site's pages under the path. See Custom code.

Remove it

  1. Choose Remove sub-folder.

  2. Confirm with Remove.

Your portal goes back to its Tuti address. Remove the two rules from your site too. To switch to a custom domain, remove the sub-folder first.

If your plan changes

On a plan without sub-folders, Tuti keeps the setup but stops serving it. Your portal answers at its Tuti address until the plan is back. See Choose where your portal lives.
