Your portal and docs can live on a domain of your own, like help.yourcompany.com. Use a subdomain of a domain you own. A custom domain is on the Pro and Business plans. Owners and admins set it up in Settings → Domain.
1. Connect the domain
Open Settings → Domain and choose Custom domain.
Enter your domain, like
help.yourcompany.com, and choose Connect domain.
You can paste a whole address: Tuti keeps only the domain. A domain under tuti.so isn't allowed, and neither is a domain another portal already uses.

2. Add the DNS records
Tuti shows the steps Domain, DNS records and Live. The domain shows Waiting for DNS until its records are found.
The DNS records step lists two records in a table with the columns Type, Name, Content, TTL and Status. Each name and content has a copy button. TTL is Auto: use your provider's default.
Type | Name | Content | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
CNAME | your domain |
| Sends your domain's visitors to Tuti |
TXT |
|
| Proves the domain is yours |
Add both records at your domain's DNS provider. Copy each value exactly.
Come back and choose Check DNS.

If the TXT record isn't found yet, Tuti says so: "We couldn't find the TXT record … yet. DNS changes can take a few minutes to show." Wait a few minutes and check again. Once it's found, Tuti says "… is verified" and the TXT record's status turns Verified.
Add the records in one click
If your DNS provider supports one-click setup, an Add with button with your provider's name, like Add with Cloudflare, shows beside the records. It opens your provider, where you approve both records. When you come back, Tuti checks them straight away.
3. Wait for the certificate
Once the domain is verified, Tuti gets an HTTPS certificate for it. This takes a few minutes once your CNAME record points at customers.tuti.so. Until then:
The domain shows Certificate pending.
The Live step says the certificate is on its way, with a Check again button.
When the certificate is ready, the domain shows Verified and both records show Verified. The Live step says "Your portal answers at …".

If it shows Certificate failed, check that the CNAME record points at customers.tuti.so. Then remove the domain and add it again.
What changes when it's live
Your portal answers on your domain. People who open your Tuti address are sent on to your domain.
Emails, the sitemap and links from the API use your domain.
The widget keeps working as it is. You don't need to change its script tag.
HTML you add in Customize → Custom code runs on your domain. See Custom code.
Keep both records at your DNS provider for as long as you use the domain.
Change or remove the domain
To use a different domain, remove this one first, then connect the new one.
Choose Remove domain at the bottom of the setup.
Confirm with Remove.
Your portal stops answering on that domain and stays at its Tuti address. You can then delete both DNS records.
If your plan changes
On a plan without custom domains, Tuti keeps the domain's settings but stops serving it. Your portal answers at its Tuti address until the plan is back. See Choose where your portal lives.
