When two posts ask for the same thing, merge one into the other so its votes and comments count in one place. Anyone on your team can merge. A merge can't be undone.

Find possible duplicates

When a post is created, Tuti compares what it says with your project's older posts, and flags up to three that look like the same idea. Sample content isn't checked. A flagged post shows:

  • A Possible duplicate badge in your Feedback list. The Possible duplicates tab lists just those, in any status.

  • A Possible duplicates card on its page, with each match's number, votes and how similar they are, such as 82% similar. The older post's page shows the same card.

The Possible duplicates card: Export reports to CSV, 82% similar, with Not a duplicate and Merge into #1

On the card:

  • Merge into #N merges this post into the older one. On the older post the button is Merge #N into this. Both ask you to confirm first.

  • Not a duplicate dismisses the match for good.

The post page's sidebar also has a Similar list: up to five posts like this one, with their status and votes. Use it to spot duplicates Tuti didn't flag.

On your portal, people typing a new idea see similar ones first, so fewer duplicates get posted. See Collect feedback and votes on your portal.

Merge a post into another

  1. Open the post you want to merge away, from Feedback → Open full page.

  2. Choose More actions (•••) at the top of the page, then Merge into….

  3. Pick the post it repeats. The most similar posts are listed first; to find another, search by its title or number.

  4. Check what the dialog says, then choose Merge. Back lets you pick another post.

You land on the post you merged into.

Merge several posts at once

  1. In Feedback, tick the posts that are the same idea.

  2. Choose Merge… in the bar above the list.

  3. Under Keep, pick the post that stays. The one with the most votes is picked for you.

  4. Choose Merge into #N.

Merge 2 posts into one? with Keep: the post with the most votes picked

Merge… shows when you've picked two or more posts. Posts from sample content can only be merged with each other, so it doesn't show when you've picked sample posts together with your own.

What a merge does

Into the post you keep go the merged post's:

  • votes (someone who voted for both counts once);

  • comments and internal notes;

  • followers, who now hear when it ships;

  • support conversations linked to it;

  • posts that had been merged into it before.

The post you keep lists it under Merged into it in its sidebar.

The merged post leaves every list and its possible-duplicate matches go. Its page in the app says Merged into and the other post, and keeps its status history. On your portal, its address takes people to the post you kept.

If the merged post had a reply waiting to be emailed to its voters, that email isn't sent: the other post's voters never asked for it.
